Phlebotomy Certification Course
A phlebotomist is responsible for safely drawing blood and performing associated activities. Phlebotomy is more complicated than most people realize—in addition to drawing blood, a phlebotomist must select the appropriate containers, label them correctly, and quickly bandage patients after drawing blood. It also helps to be good with people, as many patients feel nervous about the prospect of having their blood drawn.
-
Requirements – To become a phlebotomist in Florida, you must complete a phlebotomy program and receive your certificate. To enroll in a program, you must have a high school diploma or GED.
-
Positions – Phlebotomists typically work in hospitals, doctor’s offices, laboratories, and other clinical settings. Some phlebotomists specialize in taking blood donations.
-
Outlook – Like most other healthcare workers, phlebotomists are currently in great demand as advanced testing continues to develop, and opportunities are expected to increase considerably in the future.
